# Avoiding Those Darn Errors

Sometimes scripts need access to writing files, and the network. However, as a default after effects does not allow this. To stop any errors from popping up while trying to use any of Expression Library's features - turn on **"allow scripts to write files and access the network"**

### AE CC2019+

* **Mac OS:** Open **After Effects** > Preferences > Scripts
* **Windows:** Edit > Preferences > Scripts

### AE CC2018-

* **Mac OS:** Open **After Effects** > Preferences > General
* **Windows:** Edit > Preferences > General
